Bookstore Construction
Our store is housed in a beautiful 125-year-old brick building on Central Avenue in West Duluth. In the summer of 2016, with the help of family and friends, we began demolition, and then did major renovation -- exposed brick walls, restored original hardwood floors, and installed new systems -- to make the space comfortable and inviting. In this slide show, see the stages of the construction to make the bookstore a reality.

Grand Opening Book Fair

We held our Grand Opening on Sept. 16, 2017. A community book fair in our large parking lot brought local authors and publishers together. The featured speakers were Barton Sutter (Cold Comfort, My Father's War), Linda LeGarde Grover (Onigamiising: Seasons of an Ojibwe Year, The Sky Watched), Brian Freeman (Marathon, Jonathan Stride series) and Lorna Landvik (Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons, Once in a Blue Moon Lodge). There was live music with Teague Alexy and Erik Barry, and food and lots of fun for all.

How Do You Pronounce Jólabókaflóð?
Zenith Bookstore honored the Icelandic tradition of Jólabókaflóð (Yule Book Flood) in the Twin Ports during the holiday season in 2017. For two weeks in December we gift-wrapped books with complementary chocolate, and tried to speak Icelandic.
